Who is OCISCEBS?

The Orange County International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists local chapter is a group of professionals who live and/or work in Orange County and who hold the Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (CEBS) designation. We also have student members who are working towards attaining the designation.  The CEBS designation was established in 1977 through a partnership of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. To achieve the designation, a series of eight exams covering a broad university-based curriculum of employee benefits and compensation topics must be successfully completed.

Who is eligible to become a member of the Orange County Chapter?

Chapter membership is open to CEBS graduates who are ISCEBS members.  Membership is also open to Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) and Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) designees, and CEBS students.

Not ready to join the organization?

Attend an OCISCEBS Educational Meeting. You’ll have the opportunity to hear noted area specialists discuss topics such as:

  • health care benefits
  • retirement lifestyle funds
  • public sector benefit plans
  • benchmarking surveys

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month (except during January, July and August), include a full breakfast, start at 8:00 a.m. and end by 9:30 a.m., giving you plenty of time to start your business day.  ALL ARE WELCOME TO THE BREAKFAST MEETINGS. Discounts are available for members of the Chapter.

Are there are other meetings this chapter offers?

Yes, each year we host a fundamental seminar — either on health and welfare plans or on retirement plans. These all-day workshops are intended for the entry level employee and may provide up to eight hours of insurance and PHR/SPHR Continuing Education credits.

We also occasionally sponsor half-day programs designed to help those who work with benefit plans. These programs include topics such as handling audits, completing the annual Form 5500, and understanding HIPAA and COBRA compliance.

All of our educational programs are open to the public.
